Throughout this course, trainees will gain in-depth knowledge of the Water Efficiency Management System (WEMS)and how to effectively apply the requirements of ISO 46001:2019. Participants will learn:

• Fundamentals of Water Efficiency: Trainees will explore the importance of water efficiency in modern organizations, understand its environmental impact, and the role of water management in sustainability efforts.
• Key Components of ISO 46001:2019: The course will cover the structure and key requirements of the ISO 46001:2019 standard, including how it integrates into the broader management system of an organization. Trainees will learn about the standard’s scope, principles, and the core elements that form the foundation of water efficiency management.
• Water Usage Assessment & Baseline Establishment: Participants will learn how to assess current water usage across operations. This includes identifying inefficiencies, collecting relevant data, and establishing a baseline for comparison. Techniques for conducting water audits and analyzing consumption patterns will be covered in detail.
• Setting Water Efficiency Objectives & Targets: The course will teach participants how to set realistic, measurable water efficiency goals that align with organizational strategies. Trainees will learn how to develop water-saving targets, based on the baseline data and in line with the objectives of ISO 46001.
• Developing a Water Efficiency Action Plan: Participants will learn how to create a comprehensive action plan to achieve the set objectives. This includes strategies for implementing water-saving initiatives, evaluating resource needs, and defining key performance indicators (KPIs) for tracking progress.
• Monitoring, Measuring, and Reporting Performance: Trainees will learn how to develop systems for ongoing monitoring and measurement of water efficiency performance. The course will cover how to track the effectiveness of implemented actions and measure improvements, using the right tools and methods to report progress effectively.
• Compliance & Regulatory Requirements: Trainees will gain an understanding of the legal and regulatory requirements related to water use and management. The course will highlight how to ensure compliance with these regulations while maintaining efficient water practices.
• Continuous Improvement & Sustainability: The course will focus on how to ensure continuous improvement in water management practices. Trainees will learn how to review and update their water efficiency management system, conduct periodic evaluations, and adapt to new challenges to ensure sustainability and long-term benefits.

By the end of the course, trainees will have the skills to implement ISO 46001:2019 in their organizations, optimize water usage, reduce operational costs, and contribute to global sustainability efforts.

To get the most out of this course, participants are encouraged to come prepared with the following:

• Basic Knowledge of Environmental Management: Familiarity with general environmental management concepts and sustainability practices will be helpful, though not mandatory.
• Interest in Water Efficiency: A genuine interest in improving water usage within an organization and contributing to sustainability goals.
• Access to Relevant Organizational Data (optional): Trainees working within organizations with existing water management systems may benefit from having access to relevant water usage data, such as consumption patterns, historical water audits, and water efficiency initiatives. However, this is not a requirement for the course.

Pre-requisites

There are no formal pre-requisites for this course, making it suitable for professionals at all levels. However, the following will enhance the learning experience:

• Familiarity with Basic ISO Standards: While prior experience with ISO standards is not mandatory, understanding the basics of ISO 9001 or ISO 14001 (or any other management system standards) will provide a useful foundation for grasping ISO 46001:2019’s requirements.
• Professional Background in Environmental, Operations, or Sustainability Roles: Though not required, participants with experience in environmental management, operations, energy, or sustainability roles will find the course particularly relevant to their professional responsibilities.
